Meredith Masony
About

The long
version

Mother, wife, comedian, author, award winning creator and podcaster — telling the truth about motherhood since 2014.

Meredith Masony started writing in 2004, on the other side of a health scare that turned out to be nothing and changed everything anyway. She was teaching full time and raising three children under eight. The blog came first. Stand-up came about eighteen months later, once she had worked up the nerve.

In 2014 she launched That’s Inappropriate. The parenting internet at the time was relentlessly curated and almost none of it resembled anyone’s actual Tuesday. Her premise was simple and hasn’t changed since: say the part out loud. It has grown into a community of nearly four million parents across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, alongside Filter Free Parents, the site she founded for the same reason.

She is the author of two books — Ask Me What’s for Dinner One More Time: Inappropriate Thoughts on Motherhood, published by Simon & Schuster, and Scoop the Poop. She has spoken at Mom 2.0, Dad 2.0 and Start Loving You, and her work has been covered by Scary Mommy, FOX, News4JAX, WGN and the Tamron Hall Show.

She has taken the show on the road twice. My Name Is Not Mom ran 76 cities. The Mental Load added another thirty-plus dates. She tours with a live podcast audience and schedules around her kids — she doesn’t book a run during a senior year, and says so out loud when asked why.

With Tiffany Jenkins she co-hosts Take It or Leave It, an advice-ish podcast for parents that has passed eleven million listens. The advice is sincere. The “ish” is doing some work.

She lives in Florida with her husband Dave, who is also her business partner, their three children and two dogs. They own a laundromat, a subject she will raise unprompted. She has livestreamed folding laundry to hundreds of thousands of people, which tells you most of what you need to know about how she works: whatever is actually happening, out loud, in real time.
